JoJo Siwa has let the internet horrified over discovering that the bright blonde star is actually a brunette and has been bleaching her hair since she was just two years old.

A fan, known only as Willow, took to X - formerly known as Twitter - to share her newfound knowledge about the now 20-year-old celeb.

She wrote: 'I found out today that JoJo Siwa isn't a natural blonde, and her mother has been bleaching her hair since she was two years old.' 

The tweet, which featured an emoji that shifted from looking enthusiastic to appalled, quickly went viral and was flooded with comments from stunned users who branded it as 'damaging.'

The post was met with widespread furor as dozens of fans feared for the young star's hair health.

One person wrote: 'No f**king way. Holy s**t. That hair must be dry as hell.'

A second person commented: 'Two?! So that means she got really bad hair damage then.'

Another added: 'Since she was two is crazy. I thought she was blonde and maybe her hair got darker over time, so she started bleaching. I did not know she was never blonde, period. That's crazy.'

Someone else wrote: 'Hair dyed since two and tied in that tight high ponytail - how is she not balding?!'

In the Lifetime clip, from season two, episode seven, her mother is heard saying: 'Nothing's off limits when it comes to doing what I think will benefit JoJo. She's the Rapunzel of 2013.' 

While Jessalynn combed JoJo's hair, she told her: 'You know, your hair's getting really dark. We're gonna need to lighten this up.'

'I get brown roots, so I have to dye it so that it looks like I'm a natural blonde.'

The mother then commented: 'Abby can't say "we didn't go all out." We went all out.'
